A few days before Christmas and seven months after being put up for sale, the famous house from the movie “Home Alone” found new owners – American media report. The price of the property was set at $5.25 million. Although it has undergone a thorough modernization in recent years, fans of the Christmas classic will still find several elements known from the film inside.
The house from the movie “Home Alone” has found new owners – reported the American daily “USA Today” just before Christmas. The sale is currently in progress – “The Independent” informs that the buyers have submitted an offer, which has been accepted by the sellers, but all formalities have not been completed yet.
House put up for sale in May this year. Its price was set at USD 5.25 million, which is the equivalent of over PLN 21.5 million. The property is located in the small town of Winnetka, Illinois, approximately 30 kilometers north of Chicago.
Interestingly, as he recalls “USA Today”, when the sale of the house was announced, the actor who played Kevin, Macaulay Culkin, now 44, was thinking about buying it. “I wanted to buy it, just for fun,” he admitted in one of the interviews in early December.

Among the elements known to “Home Alone” fans, the entrance door to the building and its central staircase, down which Kevin McCallister slides down a sleigh in one of the scenes, have remained unchanged to this day. A reference to the hit film can also be found in the cinema room located in the basement. The rest of the property has been thoroughly modernized in recent years. According to the information included in the sales offer, it has been furnished to be the embodiment of “contemporary luxury”.
Built in 1921, the house was also expanded. Currently, you can find as many as 6 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, 2 laundry rooms, several recreation rooms, a gym, a cinema room and even a basketball court. The property last changed owners in 2012. At that time, its price was approximately $1.56 million (PLN 6.4 million), Business Insider reports. The previous family bought the house for $800,000. The transaction took place in 1988, two years before the shooting of “Kevin”. When the film was shot, the owners of the property were still living there. However, they only occupied the second floor – writes Business Insider.
