On one of the properties near Płońsk, police discovered 24 Mausers with an unknown substance. The containers were hidden behind buildings. Their contents and possible harmfulness are being investigated.
The Mausers, or tanks for storing liquid substances, each with a capacity of one thousand liters, were standing behind farm buildings on a property in the Naruszewo commune in Płońsk district (Masovia). It is not yet known what they contain. The police suspect that they may be some chemical substances.
“The Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection has been notified to take samples and check what the substances are, determine their chemical composition and determine any potential threat to life, human health and the natural environment. Further actions will be taken depending on the results,” said local police spokeswoman Kinga Drężek-Zmysłowska.
Police examination
The police secured the find and the surrounding area, conducted an inspection and photographic documentation. The activities were carried out with the participation of inspectors from the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Ciechanów and the fire department. The firefighters checked the containers for possible leaks, fluid leaks or vapors, and therefore, a threat to the environment.
