The Lubuskie fire brigade reported that they had to fish out a man from the Oder River near Nowy Lubusz. Earlier, he drove into the river, climbed onto the roof of the vehicle and called for help from there. – After a quick rescue operation, the “castaway” was safely on the shore – informed the spokesman of the State Fire Service in Gorzów Wielkopolski, senior captain Arkadiusz Kaniak.
The report, which was received by the services on Monday at approx. 8.30am was disturbing. It showed that there was a sunken car in the middle of the river near Nowy Lubusz, and a man was standing on the roof protruding from the water.
Several hosts of the State and Volunteer Fire Brigades, including teams with boats, were sent to the indicated place. – Firefighters approached the car by boat and took the man to it, and on the shore they handed him over to the care of medics from the ambulance service. There were no other people in the car – said Kaniak.
Around noon, the recovery of the vehicle from the water began.
The circumstances of the incident will be clarified by the police.
