The decision was announced by the Committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

On Tuesday we met this year's winners Nobel Prize winners in physics – they are John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton for “fundamental discoveries enabling machine learning using artificial neural networks.” The winners were announced on Monday Nobel Prizes in Medicine or Physiology – to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.

On Thursday, we will meet the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, which will be awarded by the Swedish Academy. On Friday, the Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded in the capital NorwayOslo, and will be announced by the five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee.

And on Monday, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will announce the winner of the Nobel Prize in economics, a field not mentioned in Alfred Nobel's will. This award is formally called the Bank Award Sweden them. Alfred Nobel and is the only one financed by the Swedish Central Bank.

The Nobel Prize is a gold medal with the image of the Swede Alfred Nobel and a calligraphed diploma, as well as a cash prize of 11 million Swedish kronor (approx. PLN 4.2 million). Committees composed of scientists and authorities decide who will be awarded on the basis of the submitted nominations. The selection criterion indicated by Nobel is the discoveries and achievements that bring the greatest benefits to humanity.
