A drunk and soaked 42-year-old man broke the glass in the terrace window of a single-family house in the commune. Nowa Wieś Lęborska. He stole jeans and socks, which he put on immediately, and left his clothes with the owner. Trying to escape from the police through a window in the roof, he hung by holding on to the window frame. He later explained to the officers that he was looking for shelter from the cold.
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in the Nowa Wieś Lęborska commune. A man came to one of the residents asking for help.
– He was drunk, soaked and claimed he was running away from someone. The concerned homeowner called 911. When the unexpected newcomer heard that the police were coming, he ran away. He headed to the neighboring property. He broke a terrace window in a single-family house where no one was inside and entered – said the District Police Headquarters in Lębork.
The man found dry jeans and socks at home and put them on. He left his, soaked, in the living room.
– When the police arrived at the scene, they started looking for the perpetrator. They had information that he was hiding in the house he had broken into. The door was opened by the owner of the property, who arrived after being alerted by a neighbor. At one point, one of the officers noticed a man hanging from the roof, clinging to the window frame, and immediately rushed to help him. He grabbed his hand and the other policemen helped him pull him inside, the officers explained.
He was drunk and had weed in the house
It turned out that the burglar was completely drunk. The 42-year-old from Lębork explained that he drank too much, and when he went out to get some fresh air, he was accosted and attacked by people he did not know.
The man did not remember how he reached the Nowa Wieś Lęborska commune. He explained that he was supposed to seek shelter from the cold in someone else's house.
His sobriety test showed that he had over 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his body. Moreover, in the apartment he occupied in Lębork, the police found a plastic box with dried plants, which they secured. Initial examination showed it was marijuana.
Yesterday, a 42-year-old man arrested was charged with burglary and possession of narcotics. He faces a penalty of 10 years in prison.
