On Thursday, the Sejm Committee on Rules, Deputies' Affairs and Immunities dealt with a motion to waive the immunity of MP Paweł Kukiz (Free Republicans). During the meeting, Kukiz apologized to the private prosecutor for the words related to his request. He forgave him, but said that the MP “should be punished as an example.” Later, the committee voted to recommend that the Sejm reject the motion.
A motion to bring a member of the Wolnia group to criminal liability Republicans Paweł Kukiz was submitted in December 2018. It was brought by private prosecutor Paweł Bednarz from the Good Shepherd Foundation.
The motion concerns Kukiz's words directed at Bednarz, whom the MP described as “a person who is not entirely sane or who was set up by someone as a provocateur.”
Kukiz apologized
Kukiz apologized to Bednarz during the regulations committee meeting. He forgave him, but – as the man said – he is still waiting for the case to go to court.
He said that the case should see the light of day and MP Kukiz “should be punished as an example.” – I request that this motion be submitted to the Sejm for a vote – said Bednarz.
After a short discussion, the committee decided in a vote that it would submit to the Sejm a proposal to reject the motion to waive the immunity of Paweł Kukiz. Kazimierz Smoliński became the rapporteur (PIS).
The Sejm decides to waive immunity by an absolute majority of votes of the statutory number of Deputies.
