A 20-year-old driver was fined PLN 5,000 and given 10 penalty points for drifting in the parking lot in front of a store in Piaseczno. His family members watched everything, and his father explained that “the young man is just learning to drive.”

On Sunday, November 10, police officers intervened in a parking lot next to one of the supermarkets in Piaseczno, where the driver of a BMW was performing dangerous skidding maneuvers.

The driver's father was surprised by the arrival of the police

– When the officers arrived at the scene, the most surprised by their visit was the driver's father, who was present at the scene. “The young one only learns to drive,” he argued. The whole problem is that this “learning” did not take place on a specially prepared track, under the supervision of an instructor, but in the parking lot, in the presence of family members – reported Magdalena GÄ…sowska, a senior trainee, spokeswoman for the District Headquarters in Piaseczno.

In the car, apart from the driver, there was also a 16-year-old passenger. Adults standing outside the vehicle watched the “training” and recorded it using their phones.

– Only thanks to the quick reaction of the police, these maneuvers were interrupted. For his actions, the driver received a fine of PLN 5,000 and 10 penalty points. This is a significant punishment, but its purpose is not only to discipline, but above all to emphasize that such stunts can have tragic consequences, the policewoman emphasized.

Drifting is not allowed on public roads and parking lots

The police reminds that public parking lots and streets are not places intended for risky maneuvers.

– Drifting should only take place in controlled conditions, on specially designated tracks or closed spaces under the supervision of specialists. By deciding to take such actions in public places, drivers not only expose themselves to serious legal consequences, but above all, they put the health and lives of other people at risk – finally appealed the spokeswoman of the Piaseczno police.
