Law and Justice is once again attacking the government. This time, it is about the flood in southern Poland. Politicians are criticizing Prime Minister Donald Tusk, suggesting that he did not warn enough about the approaching element. In addition, Mariusz Błaszczak criticizes the fact that more retention reservoirs were not built. Meanwhile, it was Marek Gróbarczyk, then Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation, who stated in 2019 that they were “in a bad way.”

On TVN24, a 24-hour news channel, the services' reports were accompanied by photos of what happened in southern Poland and of preparations for what might happen. Every Pole could hear everything that the services told Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The messages of the army, fire brigade, or police were not censored. Even the prime minister's doubts and complaints about the meteorological services were not censored.

– We are currently dealing with contradictory messages from the Institute of Meteorology and hydrologists here when it comes to the direct threat to Wrocław – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the crisis headquarters on Tuesday.

For PiS, this information policy is bad or fatal. It says that Tusk is to blame. – The state apparatus does not function because it would have to deny the words of the leader, Donald Tusk – said Mariusz Błaszczak, a member of parliament from Law and Justice, at a press conference.

PiS, which was still organizing an anti-government demonstration in Warsaw on Saturday, criticized the prime minister, who was already in the threatened areas on Friday and was organizing a crisis team. The head of government said then that “the forecasts are not overly alarming”, but Donald Tusk did not stop there – he spoke about the threat and the mobilization of the army. – Today, there is no reason to predict events on a scale that would cause a threat throughout the country – he emphasized.

During the crisis management team in Wrocław, during the services' one and a half hour report, no one said that everything was great. On the other hand, PiS went so far in criticizing Donald Tusk that it hit itself. At the press conference, Mariusz Błaszczak claimed that the flood was due to the lack of retention reservoirs. Some of the planned reservoirs were built, but some were not.

– The next ones are not being built for two reasons. Firstly, the current government is succumbing to the climate religion, and then, the second argument, succumbing to the Germans – claimed the PiS MP. However, it was the PiS government that decided that the next retention reservoirs “are a waste of time” and did not build them. – First of all, it is flooding in the Kłodzko Valley, so for us it is the basis to secure it. However, it is irresponsible to plan the next nine reservoirs, as they say: a waste of time – said Marek Gróbarczyk, the then Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation, in 2019.

Now PiS is trying to blame others. Former Minister of Education Przemysław Czarnek points out that the construction of new reservoirs was “protested by leftists”.

It is worth recalling that among those protesting the reservoirs were ecologists and politicians of the then opposition, but it was PiS that ruled, PiS that made decisions and even boasted about not building retention reservoirs in the Kłodzko Valley, as evidenced by the statement of Przemysław Daca, then president of the State Water Management Company Wody Polskie, on May 21, 2019. – We will not implement anything – he assured. In a published statement, during the ongoing flood in Poland, Antoni Macierewicz sends the Polish Prime Minister to Berlin. “Donald Tusk wanted to become a man of providence, saving from flooding… It turned out tragically. Mr. Prime Minister, please go back, preferably to Berlin – here you are only getting in the way. You will show off later” – he wrote on the X website.
