Ryszard Terlecki, former head of the PiS club and former deputy speaker of the Sejm, referred to the situation of PiS in Małopolska, where the party has a majority but still cannot elect the speaker. He wrote that “betrayal does not pay” and added that “there should be no place in it for cheaters who only care about their own benefits.” In his opinion, the situation in Małopolska requires a “decisive response.”

On June 19, Małopolska councilors failed to break the deadlock in the regional council. The only candidate for voivodeship marshal, PiS MP Łukasz Kmita, did not receive the support of all councilors of his own party for the second time. Some PiS councilors do not want to vote for the candidate recommended by Jarosław Kaczyński.

PiS has a majority, but Małopolska still does not have a marshal. Councilors do not want the “president's candidate”

Ryszard Terlecki, former chairman of the PiS club and former deputy speaker of the Sejm, commented on the situation of PiS in Małopolska on social media.

He began his post on Facebook with the words: “Betrayal does not pay…”. “Lesser Poland is going through difficult times. The crisis that prevented the election of the authorities of the Marshal's Office is the result of selecting the wrong people for the electoral lists for the regional council. Unfortunately, this also applies to the candidates of Law and Justice,” he admitted.

He added that “the lists included a few irresponsible people who didn't care about the good of Małopolska, sometimes 'welded' to their seats, and sometimes giving in to their delusional ambitions.” “They are probably aware that they won voters' votes only because they acted under the banner of Law and Justice, but they believe that this does not oblige them to do anything. Only personal interest counts, and greed for money, influence and a share of power, obscures rational thinking. People without honor cannot be allowed to adhere to Law and Justice,” Terlecki wrote.

Referring to the April local elections, he said that “the 'all for one' strategy, i.e. the alliance of all parties against PiS, led to a situation in which only the current majority and current power were maintained in three voivodeships.” “In the Podlaskie Voivodeship, the betrayal of two PiS councilors led to Tusk's camp taking power. It seemed that the fourth place would be Małopolska, where PiS has a safe majority: 21 councilors against 18 councilors of the Platform and Third Road. What good is it if several councilors did not comply? to the recommendation of the President and the unanimous decision of the PiS leadership, blocking the election of Łukasz Kmita, MP and former voivode, as the Marshal of Małopolska,” added the former Deputy Marshal of the Sejm.

Terlecki: the situation in Małopolska requires a decisive response

“In politics, it has always been the case that personal ambitions play a large role. There is nothing wrong with it when it is combined with concern for the common good, which is the basic principle of participation in politics. But for fraudsters who only care about their own benefits, there is no there should be room in it,” Terlecki further wrote. “We have such a situation in Małopolska and it requires a decisive response. Especially when a splinter group produces false opinions about the candidate for marshal. It seems that the best solution would be to repeat the elections to the regional council, but as long as there are chances to avoid them, we should look for other solutions,” he added at the end.
