Płock. Collision of a train and a bus at the Orlen production plant

Late on Sunday evening, a train and a bus collided at the Orlen production plant in Płock. As the company explained in a statement, the cause was the dense fog prevailing at the time. Two people were taken to hospital.

“The damage to the railway depot did not pose a threat to human life, health or the natural environment,” Orlen reported on Monday.

The company emphasized that the driver of the internal line bus did not notice the train passing and entered the railway crossing “due to very thick fog.”

Two people in hospital, a commission was appointed

“As a result of the incident, two people suffered injuries and were transported to hospital,” Orlen said. It was also noted that the causes of the collision were being investigated by a special team established there.

The spokeswoman of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Płock, Assistant Commissioner Monika Jakubowska, announced on Monday that the circumstances of the incident were being investigated and for this purpose, among others, monitoring from a railway crossing.

Orlen's main production plant is in Płock. It is the largest refinery and petrochemical complex in Poland.
