Polish-Belarusian border. Attempts to break. “These groups are increasingly aggressive”

The Border Guard draws attention to the aggressive attempts to cross the Polish-Belarusian border. Whole groups attack there. Reporters of the “Poland and the world” program ask about the safety and human rights of those who are trying to get to our country.

In the vicinity of Michałów, the Polish -Belarus border runs through the swamps – here the construction of the fence was not possible, which is why the border is defended by a barbecue and patrols. – An adult man is able to throw a larger stone over a distance of 40-50 meters. Here we have 20 to 30 meters maximum, so we must be aware of this threat that something can happen at any time – warns Major Błażej Łukaszewski from the Task group Podlasie.

Polish services oppose the “Loś” surgery

The group moved with a guide, after some time withdrew back to the forest. Around you can find many signs of transition attempts. In fact, the group returned a few hours later – already more numerous and tried to cross the border.

– Unfortunately, we see that these groups are increasingly aggressive. Aggression happened, but it was a few cases per week, and at that moment migrants attack us several times one night, and recently even during the day – notes the st. Staff. Michał Bura from the Podlasie Border Guard Department.

This is a continuation of the “Lock” operation started ten years ago. Under the guise of trips to Minsk, promising to move to Western Europe, the regime of Alexander Lukashenko brought thousands of migrants to Belarus. Then he transports them to the borders of the European Union, where Belarusian services force them to exceed them illegally.

– Groups from Afghanistan, Pakistan, from Somalia, from Belarus, from Somalia, come from Eritreafrom various countries – says Major Błażej Łukaszewski and explains that this is due to “from various conflicts”. – We don't get into these details. – If there are no such people, in accordance with the applicable regulation, such people are turned to Belarus, i.e. to the place where these people arrived voluntarily and legally – he adds.

The organization's doubts for human rights

In this case, organizations working for human rights. – We violate international standards, we violate the non-refoulement principle that prohibits the countries of turning to the borders of foreigners, when they are in danger of losing their lives or torture experience abroad- says Marcin Sośniak from the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights.

And the so -called asylum law means that we do not check the identity of people on the border and lose control over them, which makes them probably come back. The Border Guard points out that people who require medical assistance receive it – they go to the hospital in Hajnówka, among others.

Deputy Director for Healing of SPZOZ in Hajnówka, MD, MD, emphasizes that in the initial migration period, in the majority of the number of families and people of very different ages – newborns, elderly and very sick people went to the hospital. – Now we are observing that they are more young people: women and men – he adds.

But Marcin Sośniak argues that “we have still applications about minors, unattended, who also go to Klincz and which are also victims of the hybrid war.” – The fact that among people applying for international protection a man dominates, it is completely natural, it results from the very essence of refugee – he explains.

In mid -April for the first time Border She also observed aggression from a Belarusian officer. – Recently, smugglers use angle grinders, burners, this is the whole practice, these people are prepared for an assault on our border – notes St. Staff. Only last weekend there were 110 attempts to cross the border illegally.
