Pope Francis decided not to save himself. He decided to leave the hospital, where he would certainly be safer. He decided to start meeting people – Catholic publicist Tomasz Terlikowski noted on TVN24, commenting on information about the death of the Holy Father. He also explained what would happen in the Vatican in the coming weeks.
On Monday, the Vatican informed about the death of Pope Francis. The bishop of Rome was 88 years old. He died during recovery after severe pneumonia.
– Although it was going to a better one, it was also known that from such a disease as pneumonia, when you do not have a half of one lung and when you are nearly 90 years old, it is not easy to go out – admitted on TVN24 Tomasz Terlikowski. – What's more, Pope Francis was clearly visible, he decided not to save himself. He decided to leave the hospital, although there are many indications that he could still stay in the hospital. There would certainly be safer. He decided to start meeting people – noted the journalist. He emphasized that at this age, with bilateral pneumonia and approaching sepsis, it was very risky.
“But probably no one expected it to happen so quickly.” Especially that yesterday the Pope met for a short time, but still, with (US Vice President – ed.) JD Vanc – he added.

When asked what are the procedures in the Vatican after the Pope's death, Terlikowski pointed out that “the first procedures have already taken place”. He pointed, among others, to “knocking a special hammer on the pope's head to check if he was actually dead.”
As he said, now you have to prepare a “huge celebration”, which will be the funeral of the Pope, for which cardinals, bishops, priests and secular from around the world will come. Terlikowski pointed out that the funeral ceremony has the formula and terms provided for in church law. “We already know where the Pope will be buried because we know what the will he submitted,” he said.
– Later, when funeral ceremonies take place, I think that within a dozen or so days, this week, at the latest at the beginning of the next, probably the dean of the cardinal college, will give the first sermon and the conclave will begin – he added – he added
– Someone, within a few to several days, will be elected a new pope – summed up Terlikowski. He noted that it would be “specific conclave”. – It will be the first conclave so rich, so diverse, because the Pope appointed people from the so -called Church's periphery to cardinals. They often don't know each other, they will have to meet, only during this conclave, and when they meet, they will have to choose someone for the consequences of Pope Francis – the journalist explained.
