President Andrzej Duda states that in his personal belief Bogdan Klich is not suitable for the Polish ambassador in the United States. He explains that doubts are primarily raised by the way he behaved towards the current President Donald Trump.
President Andrzej Duda He was asked in an interview with wPolityce.pl about whether Bogdan Klich would be the Polish ambassador in the United States. – In my personal belief, Mr. Bogdan Klich is not suitable for the ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the United States, especially in connection with how he behaved towards the current president Donald Trump Duda said.

Agreement on ambassadors
On Monday, President Duda stated that there is an agreement on the President – Ministry of Foreign Affairs on ambassadors. “There is an agreement on this matter because the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Radosław Sikorski) restores this standard procedure, which begins with the initial acceptance of the presidential candidacy,” said Duda.
He added that he is ready to conduct ambassador nomination procedures, “because it is not about blocking them, but not to violate the President's constitutional prerogatives.”
He referred to the matter on Tuesday Foreign Ministry spokesman Paweł Wroński. – We are very hopeful that this conflict on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – the president has been resolved and we are eagerly awaiting the signing of the first ambassador nominations. And we are very happy with these words of the President, because in the hard times and the difficult situation of war at the gates, the diplomatic service should be strong, not weakened, so this is joyful for us – said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Klich Chargé d'Affaires of the Polish embassy in Washington
In November 2024, Bogdan Klich renounced his senator's mandate and became a representative minister – Chargé d'Affaires, head of the Polish embassy in Washington. Klich was previously approved by the Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee as a candidate for the Polish Ambassador in the USA and received the consent of the American side to take up the institution. However, he did not receive the president's nomination.
Klich was criticized for the entry from 2022 on Platform X, in which he called Trump “an unbalanced and uncomfortable politician.”

The conflict on the MSZ-President's line regarding ambassadors began in March 2024, when Minister Sikorski decided that over 50 ambassadors would end the mission, and several candidates submitted for approval by the previous management of the ministry will be withdrawn.
After the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrzej Duda announced that “no Polish ambassador can be appointed or dismissed without the president's signature.” Due to the lack of agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in place of the dismissed ambassadors, the president refused to nominate successors.
In place of the ambassadors who left the institutions, but were not formally dismissed by the president, the diplomats indicated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who, due to the conflict, do not have the status of ambassadors, but Charge d'Affaires – such a situation is, for example, in the USA, where Bogdan Klich replaced Marek Magierowskior on Ukrainewhere Piotr Łukasiewicz replaced Jarosław Guze.
