Kylian Mbappe is in open conflict with PSG. The French champions still haven't come to terms with the departure of their biggest star Real Madrid. However, the conflict manifests itself not only in mutual taunts and insinuations. There is also a fight for serious money in the background.
Mbappe is fighting with PSG for EUR 55 million. UEFA is getting into the game
The captain of the French national team demands from his former employer a signing bonus (EUR 36.6 million), unpaid wages for April, May and June last year (EUR 5.75 million each month) and the bonus he was entitled to for the said period (a total of EUR 1 .5 million euros). All this amounts to approximately EUR 55.4 million. Although half a year has passed since his departure, the club has still not settled these debts and does not intend to do so. Mbappe therefore pursued his rights before the relevant French authorities, and both the legal committee of the LFP (Professional Football League) and the league's appeal committee agreed with him.
Despite this, the club did not transfer the money, so the case went to a Parisian court. However, he has not yet set a hearing date. According to “L'Equipe”, in the meantime, Mbappe will become involved in the conflict between PSG and Mbappe UEFA. This is all because of regulations that require teams participating in European cups not to have debts to their employees.
The French reminded about the UEFA regulation. Will there be a penalty for PSG?
The daily cited Article 82 of the UEFA regulations: “on July 15, October 15 and January 15 of the licensing season, the licensee may not have any arrears in payments to its employees resulting from contractual or legal obligations, due no later than June 30 and September 30 respectively. and December 31st. This means that by January 15, PSG must submit a report to UEFA showing that PSG has no debts to Mbappe.
Unless PSG proves it doesn't owe money to its ex football playerUEFA will be able to impose a severe penalty on the club. According to the “AS” daily, the president of the French champions, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, will defend himself by concluding a gentleman's agreement with Mbappe in August 2024 to write off these debts. However, it was not written down in any way. In turn, “L'Equipe” suspects that PSG may be treated leniently thanks to Al-Khelaifi's position in European bodies. Currently, he is also a member of the UEFA executive committee and president of the association of European clubs.
