Sanok. Tragic fire in an apartment, a woman dies

On Saturday morning, firefighters received a report of a fire in an apartment in a tenement house on Rynek Street in Sanok. Three fire brigades were dispatched to the site.

– At 11.20 we received a report about a fire in an apartment on Rynek Street in Sanok. The report showed that smoke was coming from one of the apartments. The staircase was also full of smoke. There was supposed to be one person in the apartment – said senior captain Paweł Giba, press officer of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Sanok.

After arriving at the site, firefighters began rescue and fire-fighting operations. After extinguishing the fire in the apartment, the body of an approximately 90-year-old woman was found inside, on a bed.

– Firefighters withdrew from rescue operations due to the woman's death – added the firefighter.

The police, under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, are investigating the circumstances of the woman's death.
