Sartowice. Drunk cyclist stopped on S5. He was going to Germany

Drivers were astonished by a cyclist who was riding on the S5 expressway towards Świecie. When stopped by police, he explained that he wanted to go to Germany. He was drunk.

Drivers reported the cyclist riding on the S5 expressway to the officer on duty at the Świecie police station. According to the report, he was heading towards Świecie. The police quickly managed to find the cyclist and stop him for a check near Sartowice (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship).

– The 48-year-old had almost 0.9 per mille of alcohol in the exhaled air – the officers said, adding that the cyclist – as he admitted to the police – intended to ride to German.

The police transported the bike to a safe place, and the man was taken to the police station. He will answer for his irresponsible behavior in court.

– The 48-year-old risked his own life because the permitted speed on such routes is 120 km/h. Fortunately, thanks to the reaction of other drivers, a road tragedy was probably avoided – informed the District Police Headquarters in Świecie.
