The circle around the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz, is getting thicker and thicker. The poor results of Polish athletes at the Olympic Games in Paris, or the lack of transparency in financial matters, have caused Piesiewicz to come under increasing criticism. Recently, there has been a lot of noise around the CEO's earnings, which are said to amount to over PLN 100,000, as mentioned by the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Sławomir Nitras.
The issue of finances and remuneration in the Polish Olympic Committee is also commented on by members of the committee. – I believe that this is one of the issues circulating in the public sphere, which needs to be clarified and I intend to bring about this. The president spoke about his desire to receive remuneration for his activity in the Polish Olympic Committee even before the elections. At one of the first meetings of the presidium, he informed that this would also apply to three or four vice-presidents. Since no resolutions were processed by the presidium and the board on this matter, it is necessary to explain why the financial result for 2023 includes an item for the remuneration of authorities in the amount of almost PLN 1.5 million – Tomasz Chamera, vice-president of the Polish Olympic Committee, said in an interview with Sport.pl.
Apoloniusz Tajner thunders about RadosÅ‚aw Piesiewicz. “There has never been such a situation”
This time, the former vice-president of the Polish Olympic Committee, and currently a member of parliament, Apoloniusz Tajner, spoke about the whole situation. – Nobody ever earned anything. Nothing, zero! I have never heard of any presidents earning anything in the 100-year history of the Polish Olympic Committee – he said about the previous board of the committee in an interview with “Sports Review” Onet.
According to Tajner, if Piesiewicz actually earns over PLN 100,000, then we will be “dealing with a scandalous situation”. He asked during the conversation whether the board had consented to such earnings and whether there had been any resolution passed in this matter.
– Even before the Olympics, I felt embarrassed by the situation in which the face of all information concerning the departure of our athletes was the president of the Polish Olympic Committee. There were no statements from presidents, directors, coaches, and president Piesiewicz was everywhere. And he kept talking about medals and the Polish House. And those posters… I was embarrassed when I saw him on billboards with athletes, a little smaller than Piesiewicz himself. There has never been such a situation – Tajner did not hide it, referring to the loud billboards.
The former president of the Polish Ski Association gave a clear answer to the question about the future of RadosÅ‚aw Piesiewicz. – I believe that there should be no place for such people in sports – he concluded.
