Sosnowiec. Pedophilia scandal in the Sosnowiec diocese. Two new charges against priest Jacek K.

The priest has been in custody for several months. He was arrested at the beginning of October together with another priest and a former clergyman from the same diocese. Both have been charged, but are free to answer.

Dorota Pelon, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec, said on Tuesday that the decision to add charges against Jacek K. was issued a few days ago.

– Two new charges announced to the suspect on December 9 refer to crimes against sexual freedom and decency to the detriment of minors under 15 years of age. Taking into account the acts previously accused of Jacek K. immediately after his arrest, which took place on October 1, 2024, the suspect is currently charged with committing a total of four sexual offenses – added prosecutor Pelon.

The suspect did not admit to committing the acts he was accused of and provided extensive explanations, which – as investigators point out – are currently subject to procedural verification.

Jacek K. was arrested on October 2 after the first charges were presented to him. Each of the four crimes he is charged with is punishable by 2 to 12 years in prison.
