The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns of storms in almost all of Poland. The most dangerous are expected in the belt from Pomerania to Opole – there are the highest level warnings in force. In some regions it will be dangerous until Monday morning.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first, second and third degree warnings.

IMWM warnings of the third degree – storms

Third-degree, highest-level warnings stormswhich are marked in red, apply in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranian;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin the counties of Braniewo, Elbląg, ElblągOstróda, Iława, Nowe Miasto;
  • Greater Polandoutside the western counties;
  • Lodzin the Sieradz and Wieruszów counties;
  • Opole provinceoutside eastern counties;
  • Lower Silesiain eastern counties.

Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rain with a total of 50 liters of water per square meter and wind gusts accelerating to 120-130 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail will fall. Tornadoes are also possible.

The warnings will be valid until 3 a.m. Monday.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms

Orange storm warnings apply to the following provinces:

  • Greater Polandin the following counties: Kościan, Leszno, Leszno;
  • Lower Silesianin the counties of Lubin, Wołów, Legnica, LegnicaŚroda, Złotoryja, Jawor, Świdnica, Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych;
  • Warmia-Masuriaeverywhere except for counties covered by higher level warnings;
  • Podlasiein the counties of: Grajewo, Kolno, Łomża, Łomża, Zambrów;
  • Masovianexcept for Łosice County;
  • Lodzoutside Sieradz and Wieruszów counties;
  • Opole provincein the following counties: Olesno, Strzelce, Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Głubczyce;
  • Silesian;
  • Lesser Poland;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Subcarpathianin the western half of the voivodeship;
  • Lublinin the following counties: Łuków, Ryki, Puławy, Opole, Kraśnik.

In these places, during storms, very heavy rainfall of 35-45 l/m2 and wind gusts reaching speeds of up to 115 km/h are predicted. Hail will appear locally.

The warnings will expire between 3-5 a.m. Monday.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

The lowest level warnings have also been issued in connection with storms. They concern the following provinces: Podlaskie, Masovian Voivodeship, Lublin Province and Subcarpathianall counties except those covered by orange warnings.

Thunderstorms are forecast there, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall of up to 35 l/sq m and wind gusts of up to 80 km/h. Hail will appear locally.

The warnings will expire at 8 on Monday.

Great caution is recommended, the need to track messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all recommendations issued by the rescue services in the event of a threat. Adjust your plans to the weather conditions.

First-degree warning predicts conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and threaten health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous.
