Firefighters intervene on a wind farm near Sulechówek (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). At noon, the wing of one of the windmills caught fire. According to the State Fire Service, the device has been stopped and firefighters are securing the area. Employees of the company servicing the device were called to the site.
On Saturday, firefighters received a report of a windmill wing catching fire near the town of Sulechówko on the road to Witosław.
– The windmill has already stopped, but the wing tip is still on fire – told us after 2 p.m. the press officer of the district headquarters of the State Fire Service in Sławno, junior captain. Mariusz Sieciński. – There are two fire brigade units on site, from Sulechów and Zielenica, and one fire brigade unit – he added.
They use a cart with a ladder several dozen meters high
The spokesman for the State Fire Service in Sławno explained that a car with a ladder several dozen meters high was dispatched to the site, but ultimately the car did not go to the operation because the windmill is about 100 meters high and the ladder would not be useful there. – When firefighters arrived, the wing was spinning. A service company was called to the site. Employees are on their way, Sieciński said.
Spokesman of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service, Asst. Dariusz Schacht confirmed in a short message to the media that “the guard's actions are limited only to securing the scene of the incident.”
The windmill that caught fire is part of the Potęgowo farm, Sulechówko subproject. A few years ago, 29 turbines were built near this village, with a supporting column height of 98.3 meters, a propeller diameter of 120 meters and a power of 2.75 MW each. Nearby there are another 7 windmills of the Potęgowo WF, Bartolino subproject.
