Szymon Hołownia in “Kropka nad i” about partnerships

The guest of Monika Olejnik in “Kropka nad i” was the Speaker of the Sejm, the leader of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia.

When asked whether the MPs of Poland 2050 support the Act on civil partnerships with adoption of children, Hołownia said that in his party, “in such cases, there is no discipline, everyone votes according to what they think.” – As far as I know, most of our MPs will be in favor of this bill. I won't say like the vast majority, but I think it will be like that – said Hołownia. He added that he would see the Minister for Equality tomorrow about this matter Katarzyna Kotula.

When asked if he would support the adoption of children, he said he wanted to “understand what exactly this term will mean in this case of this bill”. – Is this supposed to be adoption in the form of adoption? In what way? What rights should this parent have? – the leader of the Poland 2050 party listed his doubts.

– I believe that before making a decision in such a case, and this is an important matter, you need to talk to the people affected by the matter and I intend to have such talks now. (…) I am in favour of the act on civil partnerships, for the possibility of registering them. I have nothing against this happening in civil registry offices, as people dream of. However, this issue (adoption of children – ed.) is an issue that I will decide on when I talk to the people affected by the matter and see the draft act – assured Hołownia.

– First of all, I would like this bill to be passed. People have been waiting for a long time and hopefully something will finally change in this matter. If there is a chance for anything to change, even with the registration of these unions, even now without the adoption of children, let it finally happen, otherwise we will spend the next 20 years bashing each other over who is more progressive and who is not – said the guest “Dots on the i”.

Hołownia was also asked about his possible candidacy elections presidential. He said he would make a final decision on this matter only in the fall. – I have always been honest about this matter, since 2019 and I said that I had an idea on how to make this office a place that would lower the temperature and build national reconciliation in a difficult situation, and I am still thinking about it – he admitted.

– It is probably rational that I will make the final decision in the fall, because we will see where we are as a political scene, everything can change – he added.

He said that if he decides to run, “there are good chances” that he will be a Third Way candidate. He also admitted that it is difficult for him to imagine that the ruling coalition will decide to field one candidate. – It's not about my ambitions, it's about the project succeeding. I am convinced that if the next president is from the Civic Platform and the prime minister is from the Platform, there is unfortunately a high risk that the next prime minister and president will be from PISbecause unfortunately it works this way in our country – he said.

The guest of “Kropka nad i” also referred to the meeting of the Constitutional Tribunal of Julia Przyłębska, to which the MP from Poland 2050 Paweł Śliz came and requested to be excluded from the judge's panel Krystyna Pawłowicz and Stanisław Piotrowicz. After the motion was rejected, he left the room, which made Pawłowicz angry. Later she announced that the Constitutional Tribunal had imposed a penalty on the MP.

Hołownia said that in his opinion, Krystyna Pawłowicz “ruled in her own case” and “broke the law by imposing a penalty on the MP.” – I am wondering whether to submit an application against her to the prosecutor's office, because the Act on the exercise of the mandate of a deputy and senator clearly states that such things cannot be done to a member of the Sejm – said Hołownia.

– I have a clear opinion from our legal office that I can do this – he added.
