A tourist suffered serious injuries after being hit by a train in Taiwan. The woman stood too close to the tracks while posing for a photo and was hit by an oncoming train. The woman miraculously survived, and now she can also expect a fine for her behavior.

The incident occurred on January 20 in the Pingxi district of New Taipei City Taiwan. Coming from Philippines the tourist decided to take a photo at the popular Shifen Old Street, famous mainly for its colorful lanterns, which runs along the railway tracks. She posed right in front of an oncoming train. However, the idea did not go according to plan.

The dramatic video recorded by a surveillance camera shows a woman raising her arms while posing for a photo, and at that moment a locomotive hits her shoulder. The tourist falls to the ground and almost falls under the wheels of a moving train, stopping at the very edge of the platform.

Local services reported that a woman in her thirties was seriously injured in the head, and injuries also included the chest and pelvis. Conscious, she was taken to hospital. The media report, citing the Philippine representative office in Taiwan, that he is in stable condition, but surgery was necessary.

However, this is not the end of the problems for the Filipino tourist. In addition to serious damage to health, the woman can also expect legal consequences. The Taiwanese police pointed out that the tourist was in a place where she was not allowed to enter and therefore could be fined. If found guilty of violating rail traffic safety, the fine may range from PLN 50,000 to PLN 100,000. Taiwan dollars, i.e. the equivalent of approx. 6.2 thousand up to 12.4 thousand zloty.
