The president of the Polish Olympic Committee shows the report, but he does not show himself and sends his people to the journalists. In August, the Minister of Sport demanded that the Polish Olympic Committee account for the money spent on the games in Paris. There are no accounts in the report, although there are big numbers. So is this a settlement?

The President of the Polish Olympic Committee was literally everywhere at the Games in Paris. When he was supposed to present an expense report, he never showed up. He sent his spokeswoman, secretary and lawyer.

The president – as the spokeswoman explained – is not afraid of questions. – I'm working hard because the State Treasury companies terminated our contract, so we need to look for new sponsors – says Katarzyna Kochaniak-Roman from the Polish Olympic Committee.

– He is completely not ready to answer to society when they ask him to do so – says Marcin Gortat, a former basketball player.

When athletes complained about the lack of equipment, activists slept in hotels costing 1,000 euros

The atmosphere around the Polish Olympic Committee became tense after the games, so some State Treasury companies withdrew from sponsoring the Committee. Now they have been threatened with a lawsuit. – For the refund of benefits lost by the Polish Olympic Committee – says Piotr Ciszewski, legal advisor. – If he threatens State Treasury companies, I think he will go down in history as the first to do so – comments Marcin Gortat.

The Polish Olympic Committee blamed the bad atmosphere around the Olympic movement – Minister of Sports SÅ‚awomir Nitras. – In the coming days, a lawsuit will be filed against the minister for infringement of personal rights – announces Piotr Cieszewski.

– There is a lot of shouting from the Polish Olympic Committee, but little willingness to be transparent – comments the Minister of Sport and Tourism from the Civic Coalition, SÅ‚awomir Nitras. In August, the Minister of Sport demanded that the Polish Olympic Committee account for the money spent on the games. Athletes complained about the lack of equipment or sparring partners. The report does not address this allegation – there is only a general statement that the choice of hotels was dictated by late reservations. The presented report has 66 pages. One third is the history of the Olympic movement. The next chapter is titled: “Allegations made in the media against the Polish Olympic Committee.”

This is where the information about the president's salary was found. According to the State Olympic Committee, the president earned over PLN 426,000 in 2024, which translates into an average of PLN 35,500 per month. Nothing is known about the gross amount and possible bonuses.

“There is no information about how much money was spent on activists”

The Warsaw City Hall, which supervises the Polish Olympic Committee, demanded explanations – the ones it received were returned with a request for supplementation.

No bills were presented. There are only given amounts, e.g. for flights, transport, gadgets. – Someone wrote something, someone showed something to someone, said that the other person knew about it, but the other person was not called to the board to confirm that they knew or what they knew. Generally speaking, it goes like this: I don't have your coat, what will you do to me? Keep looking for him. Mockery, mockery, mockery – sums up Robert Korzeniowski, former Polish representative in race walking.

For the organization of the PKO Games; he was supposed to spend over PLN 20 million in total, which was only shown in tables without bills. And over eight million were ultimately spent on organizing the Polish House.

– The marketing equivalent generated by Dom Polski amounted to PLN 15 million – says Marek PaÅ‚us, secretary general of the Polish Olympic Committee. This was how much money had to be spent to advertise the Polish Olympic Committee and sponsors. But the Minister of Sport is not impressed by these amounts.

– There are no facts, no amounts, no salaries, no information about how much money was spent on activists. These are basic things and there is no such information – says SÅ‚awomir Nitras.

The minister announced that he would demand full transparency from the Polish Olympic Committee.
