The 43-year-old has recently refereed only the Premier League, but was rarely seen in European cups. From the beginning of the season, he was only appointed to officiate the match Lille – Slavia Prague (2-0) in the Champions League qualifiers. But now he will get another chance in elite competitions.
The official UEFA website revealed the referees for the next round of the Champions League. And it turns out that Marciniak had a real hit, namely Wednesday's match between PSG and Atletico Madrid. Additionally, the referee team included: Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik (linemen), Damian Kos (technical), Tomasz Kwiatkowski (VAR referee) and Englishman David Coote (VAR assistant).

The above-mentioned Kwiatkowski will have his hands full in this series of games, as he was selected as a VAR assistant in Tuesday's match Lille – Juventus. There, Dutchman Dennis Higler will be responsible for video verification, and the Bosnian team led by Irfan Peljto will work on the pitch.
Both Kwiatkowski and Marciniak were the main referees in the last round of the top league. The first of them coached the match Raków Częstochowa – Stal Mielec (1-0), and the second match: Radomiak Radom – Piast Gliwice (1:1).
