Donald Trump is determined to achieve peace. The next few weeks will show us whether Vladimir Putin shares his commitment – said Henry Foy, head of the Brussels office of “Financial Times” in an interview with TVN24. He estimated that “in his heart Trump believes that with Putin, and not with Zelanski, he should be along.” “Therefore, the goal will be Moscow's happiness, not Kiev,” he said.
The Warsaw Conversation conference took place on Friday in Warsaw. This event was attended by Henry Foy, head of the Brussels office of “Financial Times” and a former correspondent in Moscow and Warsaw, with whom the TVN24 reporter Jakub Loska talked.
The journalist was asked if in his opinion a common threat from the side Russia will divide Europe or unite. – It seems to me that over the last three years we see that this common threat makes Europe more united. Certainly more united than Putin he could ever think about it – he assessed.

According to him, “the biggest problem is that our unity has always been dependent on America, which was to be on our side, provide support – intelligence, military – and finally security guarantees.”
– The question remains open: without this America – it is not quite certain that it will be withdrawn – this European unity will remain? he continued. In his opinion, this question “appears for a few months and will be discussed by another.”
“Europe has heard a wake up, but it will not necessarily delay bed”
Speaking of Russia's actions, Foy pointed to the need for “changing thinking in Europe, in our societies that now it is an existential threat and whole societies must mobilize.” – It's not a matter of expenses. It is a matter of people, taxpayers understand that at the moment defense is the most important commodity that the nations of Europe should share – he said.
He added that “in Brussels now it is said that Europe has heard a wake up, but this does not necessarily mean that he will delay bed.”
– Europe is coming out of this bed now, but it begins to think about what to do next, browsing the phone. And the Russians have already managed to put on shoes and run. Europe must be faster in its reactions – he assessed.
In his opinion, this is the moment “when the President of the United States, who looked after Europe for most (last – editor's note) 80 years, suddenly this support begins to question.” – It will take European caps a bit to think about it. However, if he looks at the meetings, at conversations, which there were a lot of these for a few weeks, things go forward. Now we still have to speed up and keep this pace – he emphasized.

“The goal will be Moscow's happiness, not Kiev”
The interlocutor of TVN24 also commented on the contacts of Donald Trump with Vladimir Putin and negotiations, which would lead to the end of aggression at Ukraine.
– It seems to me that it is obvious that Trump is determined to achieve peace. The next few weeks will show us whether Putin shares his commitment and will be ready to suspend a weapon. I think that if Putin is reluctant to stop the fighting in Ukraine, even temporarily, it will hit Trump hard – he said.
– I think that in my heart Trump believes that with Putin, and not with Zelanski, you should get along. Therefore, the goal will be the happiness of Moscow, not Kiev – added Foy.
