Controls will be reintroduced at the Dutch land borders on December 9 and will remain in force for six months, the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum announced on Monday. Earlier, other European countries reintroduced border controls.
On Monday, the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum in Netherlands announced the restoration of control at the country's borders. According to Reuters, this is an element of the anti-immigration policy of the government coalition led by Geert Wilders' Freedom Party (PVV).

The controls are designed to be minimally disruptive business activities or daily commuting to work – assured Marjolein Faber, Minister of Immigration and Asylum.
Earlier, other European countries reintroduced border controls. – We are concerned about the growing number of countries re-introducing such controls, said Geert van Eijk from the Dutch consulting and logistics company Evofenedex, quoted by the Brussels Times newspaper. He recalled that it happened sometimes Austria, Italians, Slovenia, Norway, DenmarkPoland, Finland and Sweden.
– The big question is whether the benefits from (restoring border controls – ed.) will ultimately outweigh the deterioration of the competitive position of the Netherlands (…) and, above all, the deterioration of the position of Europe as a whole – said van Eijk.
