Every month, at least 10 tickets for a symbolic zloty will be available at the box office of the Stary Theater in Krakow. Thanks to this, culture will be open to viewers who could not afford to visit the theater so far.
As the theater authorities explain, anyone can collect the ticket and no requirements will be imposed. The first December pool of tickets has already sold out.
“We don't ask for anything”
When informing about the new initiative, the theater's management emphasized that in this way they strive to make the stage more open and accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial status. The theater hopes that in this way it will reduce socio-cultural exclusion.
– We feel that theater, especially public theater, and even more so a national institution, must be for everyone. That's why we came up with the accessible ticket. It is a ticket that costs one zloty and can be purchased by anyone and everyone who, for various reasons, including economic exclusion, cannot participate in culture and theater life on a daily basis, said Jakub Skrzywanek, artistic director of NST.
Tickets will be made available at the beginning of each month and can be collected by anyone interested. – We don't ask about anything. We trust our viewers, emphasized Skrzywanek.
The first tickets were made available in December and have already sold out. The next pool will be available in early January.
