Probably none of us expected that in the history of Mr. Piotr, things would happen so quickly. Thanks to the viewers of “facts”. First, almost immediately managed to collect hundreds of thousands of zlotys for the treatment of Mr. Piotr Dubilewicz, who needed a lung transplant. Finally, what he had been waiting for over a year happened. Mr. Piotr already has new lungs.
Phones are important in this story. The most important, with the information that a donor was found for him, he called on Tuesday at 9pm. – Tears got down in their eye, because it is joy. But also such fear – says Katarzyna Dubilewicz, wife of Mr. Piotr.
Before the ambulance took him to Gdańsk at night, he managed to say goodbye. – And the neighbors came, Mrs. Ala with Mr. Zdzisław. Here we all checked if we had everything – says Katarzyna Dubilewicz.
– Let this surgery succeed. Let everything be there. Emotion. The joy was that he finally lived to see – says Alicja Wilk, a neighbor of Mr. Piotr.

– We used to say so much that we would like to get old together. And maybe we will succeed – his wife said before the surgery of Piotr.
The transplant lasted several hours. In the afternoon he was already awakened, he is conscious and breathes himself.
– There was certainly some fear, but he also had a lot of hope. A lot of optimism. These are usually patients who have to make a lot of changes in this life. For example, it should not have an animal house. You should not have a large amount of pot flowers – indicates Dr. Aleksandra Stańska, a clinical psychologist from the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk.

His lungs disappeared – he balanced on the verge of life for the last year. The family was suffocated by debts after 12 years of treatment. TVN's “Facts” helped – the collected money restored peace.

He will live like Mr. Maciej – who is already eight years after lung transplant. – I had to learn to walk again. Each degree, later everything successively. Working with rehabilitators. Well, shock that I am here – says Maciej Ślusarczyk.
– In the first year, doctors use very strong immunosuppression that protects against rejection. Therefore, they are exposed to infections and in this period they should be more careful at each other – says dr hab. Marek Ochman from the Greater Poland Center of Pulmonology and Toracic Surgery in Poznań of the Medical University of Poznań.
Their common dream is to go for a walk with the whole family. – That Piotrek would do it. That he would manage. That he would come back to us – says Katarzyna Dubiliewicz.
