It was the 63rd minute of Friday's hit by PKO BP Ekstraklasa. It was then that Robert Kolendowicz, the coach of Pogoń Szczecin, seeing the helplessness of his team in this part of the offensive, decided to make a change. Austrian Alexander Gorgon replaced Vahan Bichakhchyan. Four minutes later, the substitute received the ball after a cross from Kamil Grosicki from the left side and scored a goal with a beautiful left-foot shot from over 20 meters!
Legia Warsaw helpless until half-time. Again without a goal
7 – that's how many goals were scored in the last match between these teams in Szczecin. Then the hosts didn't take advantage of the fact that from the 49th minute they played with an advantage of one player after Artur Jędrzejczyk's red card and lost 3:4.
Now the fans could count on a similar spectacle. After only 180 seconds, Pogoń fans should have reason to be happy. Kamil Grosicki ran into the penalty area from the left, crossed to Efthymios Koulouris, but he headed it centimetres wide of the post. Kacper Tobiasz, Legia Warsaw's goalkeeper, didn't even flinch.
A goal for the hosts seemed to be only a matter of time, because the hosts were definitely better, constantly attacking and creating opportunities for themselves. Koulouris had another opportunity in the 26th minute. He received the ball from Linus Wahlqvist, shot from eleven meters, but over the crossbar. After two quarters of an hour, the hosts had seven shots, and the team was completely helpless in attack, not creating opportunities for itself, and was glaringly inaccurate. Legion – none! It didn't change until the end of the half. The team from the capital didn't have a shot on goal!
The fans from the capital did not see a shot until the 55th minute. Then, after a corner kick, Bartosz Kapustka shot from a 10-meter angle, but Valentin Cojocaru defended well. The fans also saw better play from the visitors. The team coached by Goncalo Feio had more possession of the ball and finally had arguments in the attack. The Warsaw team had a lot of corner kicks, but lacked 100 percent opportunities to score a goal. And then came the 67th minute, which we described above.
After conceding a goal Legia Warsaw she attacked, but she did it clumsily and was unable to create a situation. What's more, she could have been losing 0:2, but Grosicki lost a one-on-one with Tobiasz.
Only in added time after an accidental bounce in the penalty area Ruben Vinagre had a good chance, but his shot from about eleven meters was blocked. A moment later there was a brawl on the pitch – Cojocaru and Artur Jędrzejczyk clashed and the main referee Wojciech Myć had to separate them.
Pogoń, after this victory, moved up to the position of vice-leader. It has 16 points, three less than the leader Lech Poznań. Legia Warszawa, with 14 points, is in fifth position. In the next round, Pogoń will play on Friday, September 27 (6:00 p.m.) away with GKS Katowice, and Legia will face Górnik Zabrze at home (Saturday, September 28, 8:15 p.m.).
In another match on Friday Radomiak defeated Korona Kielce 4:0 (2:0) in front of their home crowd. On Saturday, four PKO BP Ekstraklasa matches will be played: Puszcza Niepołomice – Cracovia (12:15), Jagiellonia Białystok – Lechia Gdansk (2:45 p.m.), Widzew Łódź – Piast Gliwice (5:30 p.m.) and Górnik Zabrze – GKS Katowice (8:15 p.m.).
