The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has shown maps of the forecasted risk of forest fires. They show that on Sunday and Monday, in some places, the threat of this phenomenon may be extreme.
In the south-west of Poland, record rainfall has been recorded in recent days. In the north-east, warnings are in effect for hydrological drought. The lack of rainfall has caused the forest litter to dry out.
According to the fire hazard forecast IMWMfor Sunday extreme The level of threat is forecasted for part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. In some places, especially in Kujawy and Pomerania, Wielkopolska and Mazovia, the fire threat will be very big. In other areas it is to be high or medium.

The fire threat map for Monday looks even worse. Extreme level is forecasted for the north-western part of the Masovian Voivodeship, a large part of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, the north of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and part of Greater Poland.
In many regions, the risk of forest fires is expected to be very high. Only in the south and southwest – high or medium.

As explained by IMGW, the data comes from a fire hazard forecasting system dedicated to forest areas. Forecasts are made for the whole of Poland on a grid with a spatial resolution of 2.5 by 2.5 km. Fire hazard is forecasted once a day at 12 o'clock official time with a time advance of 24 and 48 hours.
