If it really comes into force, it will be one of the best endometriosis treatment systems in the world – said Katarzyna Górniak. – I am touched as a journalist, but as a woman as a patient. This is a disease of a million Polish women – said Magdalena Łucyan. Górniak and Łucyan are reporters of TVN “Facts” and the authors of the report “Such your beauty”.
On March 30, it is a day of building knowledge about endometriosis, its symptoms and treatment capabilities, and Solidarity Day with women with endometriosis.
The Ministry of Health announced that work on the standard of comprehensive care for patients with endometriosis is already over. “In April, the draft regulation will go to public consultations, and from July this year a new benefit will be financed by the National Health Fund” – announced.
The hospitals of the program “Stand up and weekend” on TVN24 were on Sunday reporters of “Facts” by TVN Magda Łucyan and Katarzyna Górniak, who in 2021 created the report “Your beauty such” introducing what endometriosis is, what the life of women who suffer from it is and what they measure, seeking help from doctors. The reporters also wrote the book “Taky Your Beauty”.
“We had tears in our eyes”
– I'm touched at several levels. First of all, as a journalist, because it is quite rare in the life of journalists to see such a real impact of our work, the subject we have dealt with for several years. But I am also touched as a woman, as a patient, when I think that girls who are teenagers today will not duplicate the fate of many women suffering from endometriosis, even my fate, or those even more extreme, radical, waiting for a dozen or so years for diagnosis, erroneous surgery, complications, problems with getting pregnant. Because if this diagnostics accelerate, if the diagnosis appears at the beginning of their path, many of these problems simply will not be – said Magda Łucyan.

– We also had tears in our eyes – added Łucyan. However, she noted: – We'll believe how we will see. On July 1, this will be the moment when we both say “check”.
“Our intuition, the certainty of our symptoms is very important”
As Górniak said, “the first feeling that something would be possible to change, it was a change in social awareness.” – And it began with women who, after our reportage, and then after the book (“Your beauty. How endometriosis destroys the life of Polish women”) began to notice that they may be sick, that perhaps their familiar, sisters, wives, mothers and so on are sick – said Górniak.
Łucyan emphasized that “when someone has been experiencing unnoticed pain for years, which no one believes, he sits on the psyche and very hard to function with it.”
– These women also began to behave differently towards the doctor, and doctors towards women. These women no longer allow themselves to depreciate their symptoms. The doctors began to notice it – pointed out Górniak.
– I remember that when I was looking for a diagnosis, I wanted to find out what was going on, where to look for help, I couldn't find information on the internet anywhere. I had to look in the scientific press, in the forum of patients who shared their stories. And now there is the ease that if you enter your symptoms, how you observe your body and read the stories of other women, it is very easy to find this comparison – said Łucyan.
At the same time, she pointed out that “we are still waiting for the diagnosis of endometriosis in Poland for 8 to 10 years”. “That's why our intuition, the certainty of our symptoms is very important,” she added.

Górniak emphasized that the system of treatment of endometriosis in Poland “de facto had to be created from scratch”. – If he really enters into force, it will be one of the best endometriosis treatment systems in the world. So we have huge expectations – admitted the journalist.
She pointed to the three main pillars. First of all, endometriosis operations, because they are sometimes needed, will be valued much better. That is, hospitals will pay off to do (these operations – ed.) Probably, specialist. Now they are priced terribly, it does not pay off at all. The second thing is that endometriosis treatment centers will be created so that women do not wander for years for doctors who are unable to treat or diagnose this disease. The ministry will indicate these centers in Poland, and there are such NFZ Already now they know it and there will be money pushed there. And the third thing is that the doctors will be offered a training system so that they no longer deny that they do not know – explained the reporter of TVN “Facts”.
Łucyan pointed out that a bottom -up change is also needed. – It is still the case that there is practically no word in medical studies with endometriosis. Universities work autonomously, so it depends on them what is in this curriculum. The minister told us yesterday that the e -mail would go to all rectors with information about what endometriosis is to include this in the curricula of these medical universities, that this is a disease of a million Polish women and that it must be in gynecological studies, because a lot of patients come with it and this is their real problem. And they cannot hear that this is their beauty – said the journalist.
