From the beginning of the demonstration, thousands of young demonstrators gathered in the center of Istanbul, standing in front of the police cordon, chanted anti -government, revolutionary and nationalist slogans. Small items and plastic bottles flew to the officers regularly, despite the appeals of the protesters to cease provocation.

Attacks on officers intensified. Larger items and fired flares began to fly towards them. The services began to spray protesters with pepper gas. A panic broke out in a crowd of several thousand. The demonstrators began a chaotic escape through the headquarters of the Metropolitan authorities of the park towards nearby streets. The square was almost immediately deserted.

Protests after the arrest of the mayor of Istanbul
Protests organized daily are a response to the detention of the opposition mayor of Istanbul Imamogle. The politician was accused of corruption and relationships with the terrorist organization.
