Ukraine can be forced to import 6.3 billion cubic meters of gas. The reserves of the raw material fell to a record low level – said Serhij Makohon, former head of the independent HTS operator of Ukraine.

As he emphasized, as a result of Russian rocket attacks that damaged production facilities in the east of the country, Ukraine She was forced to draw on her gas stocks, as well as increase the import of this raw material in winter and spring.

“Lowest in history” gas supply level

Makohon said, citing the data of the Gas Infrastructure Europe gas operators (GIE), that the level of Ukrainian gas reserves is “the lowest in history” and on April 16 it was 0.7 billion cubic meters, which is only 2.22 percent. full warehouse capacity.

According to Makohon, Ukraine should accumulate gas reserves of at least 12.8 billion cubic meters, of which 4.6 billion cubic meters is a gas needed to maintain sufficient tension in tanks.

– According to my calculations, if you take into account the size of domestic production, this will require importing at least 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas, and better 6.3 billion – he said.

He added that the Ukrainian state-owned gas-napthaz gas company announced that the import of less raw material would be required: 4.6 billion cubic meters.

As Makohon emphasized, even this smaller amount can cost a country up to $ 3 billion, while existing funds allow you to buy only 0.4 billion cubic meters of raw material.
