Vitaly Kliczko received the award of the name of President Paweł Adamowicz during the plenary session of the Regional Committee in Brussels. Mayor of Kiev was awarded “for leadership and defense of human rights and democracy in the face of war.”
Vitaly Kliczko became the laureate of the 4th edition of the President Paweł Adamowicz. He personally received the award on Thursday during the 164th Plenary Session of the Regional Committee in Brussels.

As we read on the official website of the city of Gdańsk, the award promotes the legacy of Paweł Adamowicz in defense of democracy at local level and is homage and recognition for all people who bravely and honestly face intolerance, radicalization, hatred, oppression and xenophobia.
The distinction was granted jointly by the City of Gdańsk, headed by Paweł Adamowicz, an international network of cities of Icorn shelter and the European Committee of Regions, which the late president was a member.
The jury also decided that a special distinction went to Bassam Arakin and Rami Elhanana – representatives of Parents Circle – Families Forum (PCFF), organization of parents from Palestine and Israelwho lost children in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The statuette is authored by the sculptor Krzysztof Bednarski.
