Tradition of Chopin concerts

Chopin concerts in cooperation with Royal Łazienki are organized by the capital's Estrada and the Society of Fryderyk Chopin. They are one of the oldest musical events of the capital and its cultural showcase. For the first time, a recital at the monument to Fryderyk Chopin was organized in 1959.

The monument depicting the inspired composer, sitting under a broken willow, by Wacław Szymanowski, was unveiled in 1926. During the Second World War, the monument was blown up. After the war, in the ruins of the Wrocław Wagon Factory, Chopin's head was found from the sculpture in Łazienki and a monument was reconstructed on the basis of the survivor plaster model. It was unveiled in 1958.
