One of the residents was concerned about the water condition in the Bródnowski Canal. There was yellow-brown foam floating in it. On the other hand, there were visible greasy stains on a nearby bridge. She notified the city guard.

On Monday, a few minutes after 9 a.m., a woman approached city guards patrolling the area around the school on Hemara Street in Białołęka. She told me about the greasy stains on the water that she had noticed while passing by the Bródnowski Canal. The officers went to the indicated place.

– There was yellow-brown foam floating on the water, on a section of about 100 meters. Between the bridges on Hemara and Dobka z Oleśnica streets, greasy stains were also visible. It could have been oil or gasoline. In connection with this, we notified the fire department's chemical rescue unit – said Senior Inspector Piotr Czartoryski from the intervening patrol, quoted in the municipal guard's press release.

The guards assessed the level of water pollution as low. They suspect that it could have occurred during the start-up of pumps at a nearby construction site. “The stains were neutralized with a biodegradable agent, and the foam was broken up with a stream of water,” the guards described. They finished their operations around noon.
