A nine-year-old girl has died after being hit by a truck driver in Wesoła. The tragedy occurred on Tuesday when she and her mother were crossing the road on a bicycle crossing. After the accident, both were taken to hospital.
The girl could not be saved. – She died at the Children's Health Center on July 26. In connection with this, the truck driver was charged with causing a road accident with a fatal outcome. This act is punishable by imprisonment from six months to eight years – informed prosecutor Norbert Woliński from the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw Praga in Warsaw.
Article 177. § 1. Whoever, by violating, even unintentionally, the safety rules in land, water or air traffic, unintentionally causes an accident in which another person suffers bodily injuries as specified in Article 157 § 1, shall be subject to the penalty of deprivation of liberty for up to 3 years. § 2. If the consequence of the accident is the death of another person or a serious impairment of their health, the perpetrator shall be subject to the penalty of deprivation of liberty for a term of between 6 months and 8 years.
The driver's license was confiscated
– The girl and her mother were crossing the road at a bicycle crossing. A truck driver caused an accident at that crossing – added prosecutor Woliński.
He added that the suspect's driving license was taken away. There was no motion to temporarily arrest the truck driver. He was sober at the time of the accident. The case is still ongoing.
