City gardeners showed off the first results of work on the construction of a park on the Southern Bypass of Warsaw in Ursynów. – The work is in progress – they assured.
Greenery Board of the capital city Warszawy informed about the first effects of work in the linear park on the Southern Bypass of Warsaw. “In recent days, a teddy bear – known from the coat of arms of the Ursynów District of the Capital City of Warsaw – and other wooden play equipment have appeared in the recreation area,” the gardeners wrote.
In addition, the contractor and designer of the park installed an illuminated floor fountain and also created a rain garden in which a bridge is being installed. “New surfaces are being built, including wooden ones in the form of honeycombs,” they said.
The first shrubs were also planted in the park: yews, viburnum, cotoneaster and jasmine.
The park has been promised since 2016
We wrote about the park, which was to be built on the Southern Bypass of Warsaw, for the first time in 2016. At that time, Robert Kempa, the mayor of Ursynów, hoped that the first shovel would be broken in 2021. However, new problems appeared every now and then. An agreement was needed with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways responsible for the construction of the tunnel, and the investment itself was delayed for several months. There was no project and no secured finances. The tender was announced in April this year.
However, the offer opening date was postponed several times. Reason? Contractors raised a lot of questions.
A long promenade, thousands of trees and bushes
In February, officials announced that the park could be built in 2025. What should it look like? Urban gardeners want to focus on lots of plants. There will be: about a thousand trees, over 100,000 shrubs, vines, perennials and ornamental grasses.
In addition, a new system of sidewalks and walking paths – the main element will be a promenade running along the entire length of the park. Residents will also benefit from, among others: from the recreation area and wooden terrace, which is planned over the rain garden. The total area of the new park will be approximately 10 hectares.
The investment carried out by Palmett is expected to cost over PLN 33 million.
