After consulting experts, the Warsaw prosecutor's office recognized Wojciech S., suspected of killing an 84-year-old mother, as insane. The prosecutor applied for the redemption of the case and the treatment of a man in a psychiatric institution.
A spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office, Piotr Antoni Skiba, said that the prosecutor's office had a request to the court for discontinuation of the investigation and the application of security measures against Wojciech S.
The man is suspected of the fact that on May 15, 2024 At Bryły Street in Mokotów, he killed his mother. Wojciech S. repeatedly beat her with his fist, as well as the base of his hand in the face and caused different damage to the hammer and stabbing her with a knife.
– This caused extensive injuries, which led to the death of the victim, while this act committed in the conditions of abolished ability to recognize his importance and the abolished ability to manage his proceedings – noted Prosecutor Skiba.

Experts: He was insane
In the investigation, two expert psychiatrists and an expert psychologist were accepted in order to assess a man's mental health. In the opinion, the experts applied for submission to Wojciech S. psychiatric observation in the conditions of the hospital ward.
After observing, the experts stated that Wojciech S. had abolished the ability to recognize its importance and guide his behavior during the alleged act.

Psychiatric institution
According to investigators, there were premises from Article 31, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.
– The likelihood of committing prohibited acts of significant social harm in the assessment of experts is high, which raises the need for a preventing a protective measure in the form of a stay in a psychiatric institution, because other security measures would be insufficient – summed up prosecutor Skiba.
