Warsaw. The city sums up the first month of Veturilo’s operation in a new version

Veturilo in a new version is available to users from March 1. The bikes that are entering the streets of the capital this season are brand new machines, and 10 percent of the entire fleet has electric support. The website and mobile application are also new. The stations themselves also look different than before. All this is related to the refreshed rules of the system. At the stations, information poles have appeared, which replace the terminals known from earlier years. Inconvenient electric locks, to which bicycles had to be brought in in previous years, have irretrievably disappeared. Their place was taken by the “o-lock”, which is built into the rear wheel of every bicycle. This lock also has a function that allows you to stop safely without ending the rental.

According to the capital city hall, on the day of the inauguration of the system in the new version, 7,181 rentals were recorded. “It was the third best inauguration since the beginning of Veturilo’s existence, so until 2012. Throughout March, this number is exactly 272,233. Since the beginning of March, more than 44,000 people have registered in Veturilo” – the Warsaw City Hall lists in the release. For comparison, in March last year, about 261,000 city bikes were rented. times.

The town hall points out that about 20 percent of all rentals in March were electric bikes, of which there are only 300 in the system. A total of 54.7 thousand were rented throughout the month. times.

From this season, there is no need to return bikes at stations. Leave the two-wheelers in the “return zones” marked on the map at the stands. According to the report, such returns accounted for just over seven percent. “This involves an additional fee of PLN 15. But for returning the bike to the station (e.g. renting it in the zone and returning it at the station), the user receives a bonus of PLN 5” – reminds the town hall. A total of 8,612 such bonuses were distributed.

The city hall calculates that the system was launched this year with 300 stations and a fleet of 3,030 bicycles. “During the month, 8 more stations joined them, and the number of bicycles increased to 3,115. Private partners of the project – mainly office parks and shopping centers – financed seven stations. At the beginning of April, the first additional station financed by the city office was launched in Rembertów The number of sponsor and district stations will continue to grow throughout the spring” – emphasizes the city office. More rentals are being prepared in Mokotów, Włochy, Ursynów and Ochota.

Officials calculate that most rentals were in Śródmieście – as many as 65,000. – because there the network of stations is the densest. The next districts are Wola – 36,000, Ochota – 27,000. Mokotów – 26,000, South Praga. – 17,000, Praga Pn. – 14 thousand and Ursynów – 11 thousand.

The city hall also indicated the most popular routes between the stations. Their location indicates that a large group of bicycle users are students. Most often, the bicycle is used for transport between universities and metro or tram stations. The most popular bicycle connections are: the route from Niepodległości/Batory to Banacha/UW, from UKSW/Marymoncka to Dewajtis, from Metro Ursynów to Jastrzębowski/SGGW, connection to ul. Heroldów with the Młociny metro station and access from ul. Stryjeński to the Natolin and Kabaty subways.

Veturilo rental prices have remained unchanged this season.
