On Sunday, the Katyn Shadow March will pass through the streets of Warsaw for the 18th time. Reconstructors and residents celebrate the memory of Poles murdered in 1940 in Katyn and other places of execution in the east.
According to the Institute of National Remembrance, about 350 reenactors from various parts of Poland will take part in the event. “It will be a tribute to 22,000 Polish officers, murdered by the Soviets in 1940 in Katyn and other places of execution.
“Participants of the Congregation will gather at al. Jerozolimskie 3, and then pass through the following streets: al. Jerozolimskie, Nowy Świat, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Świętojańska, the Old Town Rynek, Nowomiejska, Długa, Bonifraterska, Muranowska, Muranowska to the monument to the fallen and murdered in the east,” said City Transport Board.
Changes in bus running
Difficulties and changes in communication from 15.00-18.00 are possible.
For the time of passing through al. Jerozolimskie, tram traffic will be suspended near the de Gaulle roundabout, and buses 111, 116, 117, 127, 128, 131, 158, 175, 180, 503, 507, 517 and 521 will be directed to travel routes.
During the assembly, in al. Jerozolimskie at height 3, buses 111, 117, 158, 507 and 521 will bypass the difficulties along Wioślarska, Ludna, Solec, Tamka, Copernicus to Świętokrzyska.
When passing through al. Jerozolimskie, Rondo de Gaulle, Nowy Świat to Świętokrzyska, additional buses will be directed to the tour routes: buses of lines 116, 128, 175 180 and 503 will go along the streets of Marszałkowska and Świętokrzyska, and 127, 131 and 517 al. Ujazdowski, Piękna and Krucza towards Ursus, Sadyba and Wilanów.
In the case of blocking the royal route, buses: lines 106, 111, 116, 128, 175, 180 and 503 will travel along Marszałkowska, Królewska streets through pl. Piłsudski.
