In August 2022, the Capital Board of the City Expansion of the City informed about the tender for the preparation of the program concept for the construction of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie bridge route (northern). The study was to apply to the section from Kasprowicz to the S7 express road and contain four variants of this road. The most advantageous offer was made by Promost Consulting, which eventually prepared concepts. Officials have just chosen one variant, which is to be the target, which was first informed by “Gazeta Stołeczna”.

As a spokeswoman for the capital's development board of Agata Choińska-Ostrowska explains to us, in the selected variant of the route, which will connect with the future S7 on the so-called Janicki's node, two roadways, bilateral bicycle paths and pavements are foreseen.

Connection with S7

It is about the planned 13-kilometer section of the S7 route between Kiełpin and the Home Army route. Last autumn The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways has signed a contract for the implementation of the road project. As part of the investment, among others, Two tunnels: near Bielany and Bemow. According to preliminary estimates, the drivers will use this fragment of the expressway in 2032.

This section will run on the existing trail of Kolejowa Street in Dziekanów Leśny. Then, behind the Łomianki junction towards the Młociński Canal, the route will be designed on the embankment. Further, the road will run along the eastern rim of the Kampinos National Park, to the Wólka Węglowa junction and the Janicki junction. Behind the Street Street in Warsaw, the route will be conducted in tunnels – near Bielany, about 1000 meters long and near Bemow, about 1100 m long. At the S7 connection with the S8 express road, the Warsaw North junction is planned. The concept also assumes the construction of five road junctions: Kolejowa, Wólka Węglowa, Janickiego (variant), General Maczek (between tunnels) and Warsaw North.

Uncertain node

The issue of building the Janicki junction was uncertain. When GDDKiA planned the S7, the node fell out of plans, which caused Protests among the inhabitants of Bielany. They were afraid that the lack of connection with the route of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie bridge would lead to jamming narrow streets in Młociny. The spokeswoman Szerm indicates that the ongoing design work includes the development of a multi -variant program concept and obtaining a decision on environmental conditions. – After obtaining the environmental decision, which we applied last month, the arrangements will be made regarding the continuation of design work and the date of implementation of construction works – explains Choińska -Ostrowska.

The estimated, expected cost of building the road in the selected variant is about PLN 440 million.
