He added that the preserved neon is a relic of the urban structure pl. The Constitution, which was part of the establishment of the MDM estate and the representative area of the city.
“The artistic values of the installation in question result from a balanced composition, a synthetic form, the lightness of the composition, despite its monumental character (thanks to the contour treatment of individual elements and giving all the impression of movement, obtained through diagonal and expressive storage of the character, as well as the use of light animation)” – emphasized the office.
Project of Jan Mucharski
Neon “Volleyball” was designed by graphic artist and architect Jan Mucharski (1900-1981). “The partially animated composition was the original element of a comprehensive advertising of a light store with sports articles, which was located in the basement of the building,” said the conservator's office.
Neon, together with the “MHD” and “Sport” inscriptions, mounted between pillars in arcades and a horizontal green line, stretching along the facade and facade of the eastern building, constituted a coherent artistic composition.
