Warsaw residents welcomed the New Year by taking to the streets of the Old Town in large numbers. New Year's Eve in Warsaw was peaceful, police say, although there were many incidents such as fires caused by fireworks. Firefighters also intervened in an apartment in Targówek, where a Christmas tree and one of the rooms burned down.

Warsaw has not organized a city New Year's Eve party for several years. Residents and tourists spend the last night of the year at parties, restaurants, clubs and theaters in the capital. The Royal Route and the Old Town were crowded. The crowd celebrated the coming of the New Year at Castle Square. – This is the most beautiful place in Warsaw to spend this time. Wonderful energy, many cultures, many people gathered to celebrate 2025 – one of the women gathered there told a TVN24 reporter.

At midnight, residents of the capital went out in front of their apartment blocks and houses to watch fireworks. Some people chose places such as Kopa Cwila, where you can admire the panorama of the city.

An alternative to typical New Year's Eve events was the Turn of the Year event in the Wisła District on the capital's Poniatówka beach. The participants welcomed the New Year without the sound of firecrackers and loud music. They could go on a winter cruise on the Vistula, take part in a field game and listen to stories about ancient Slavs around the campfire.

As Jacek Sobociński from the Warsaw Police Headquarters told us, New Year's Eve was safe and peaceful in the capital.

Firefighters could not complain about the lack of work. Only until midnight, they responded to 140 interventions, but they mainly concerned small fires or smoke caused by firecrackers and fireworks. The most serious intervention took place on Tuesday evening in Targówek, where in an apartment on Å›w. There was a fire at Wincenty. – No one was injured. Residents were evacuated from the premises. The Christmas tree and one room were burned down – said Marek Możdżonek from the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Warsaw.
