A drunk driver of a Volvo passenger car drove into the fence of a property in Zawadzkie in the Opole region and then tried to blame his girlfriend, who was not at the scene of the incident. According to the police, the 30-year-old had almost 3 per mille of alcohol. Additionally, the man was banned from driving for 3 years.
The incident took place on Sunday, January 5, a few minutes after 1 a.m. in Zawadzkie. There, the driver of a Volvo passenger car crashed into the fence of one of the properties.
“The police found the perpetrator of the intervention standing next to the damaged vehicle. The officers immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol from the driver of the Volvo. The man tried to convince the police that his girlfriend was the perpetrator of the incident. However, she was not at the scene because she was afraid of the consequences. The officers did not believe his words. The 30-year-old pleaded guilty,” the Opole police inform.
He was drunk and banned from driving
A breathalyzer test showed that the man had almost 3 per mille of alcohol. After a while, it also turned out that the man should not drive at all, because he was banned from driving motor vehicles for 3 years.
The car driven by the 30-year-old was towed to a guarded police parking lot. The police found out that the man had been convicted of similar road offenses in the past. Due to the above, the driver will now be held responsible for the acts committed under conditions of recidivism.
In this case, the court may even impose a lifelong driving ban. The 30-year-old also faces a heavy fine and imprisonment for up to 5 years.
