A 51-year-old from Żuromin County got into a fight during which he attacked another man with his fists and helmet. He then drove a motorcycle while drunk and ended up in a cornfield. He was eventually taken to hospital, where he attacked the staff – informs Żuromin police.

On Sunday, July 14, on the Chromakowo – Poniatowo route behind the bend in the road, there was a road accident involving a motorcyclist. Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

They found the motorcyclist sitting on the side of the road. It turned out that he was very lucky. “On a bend in the road, he lost control of the vehicle, went to the left side of the road and then into a roadside ditch, where he brushed a tree, falling with the motorcycle into a corn field,” asp. Tomasz Łopiński from the District Police Headquarters in Żuromin described the incident in a statement.

According to the police, the man initially claimed that the motorcycle was driven by someone else who had escaped into the corn, but he did not want to explain his involvement. However, the officers were not fooled and recognized the man as a resident of Żuromin County, who had already tried to mislead them in the same way during another incident.

“The 51-year-old was unable to undergo an alcohol test, although he could smell it,” Łopiński added. Paramedics provided assistance to the motorcyclist. The patient was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Płock for more detailed diagnostics.

He started a fight

While the motorcyclist was being transported to the hospital, the police were conducting activities to clarify the circumstances of the incident. “They linked the 51-year-old injured party to an earlier intervention in a case of a brawl in a nearby town, where he attacked a resident of Żuromin County with his fists and helmet, then got on his motorcycle and rode away,” Łopiński reported. He noted that the brawl took place on the same day as the accident.

“The man was taken to a sobering-up station shortly afterwards, because earlier, during the flight, he had begun to show his dissatisfaction with the whole situation, and in the hospital in Płock he became furious. During his stay in the reception room, he insulted and violated the physical integrity of two medics,” added Łopiński. Despite everything, the doctor completed the examination.

When the 51-year-old sobered up, he was interrogated and released.

Police: he had 1.7 per mille of alcohol in his body

The police determined that on the day of the incident, the 51-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol. “The result of a blood test is over 1.7 per mille of alcohol in the body, for which he will soon be charged with a penalty of up to 3 years in prison,” Łopiński clarified.

The man's behavior towards the medical staff of the Płock hospital, consisting of insulting and violating the inviolability of a public official, is the subject of the activities of the Płock police. For these acts, the 51-year-old also faces up to 3 years in prison.
