Żuromin. Members of a fentanyl ring arrested and opioids seized

The police detained three more people from a network selling fentanyl and other opioid drugs in Żuromin (Masovian Voivodeship) – two men and a woman from Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. The officers also seized approximately 12,000 opioid pills. In the small town of Żuromin, psychotropic drugs are taking a bloody toll – this year alone, at least five people have died there from fentanyl overdoses.

Żuromin is a town with almost nine thousand inhabitants in the northern part of the Masovian Voivodeship. Although the town is small, it has a huge drug problem. Just this year, due to an overdose of fentanyl – an opioid drug 50 times stronger than heroin – at least five people died there.

In June, officers detained a man known as the “Żuromiński Duch”who is suspected of drug trafficking. This man was supposed to import fentanyl and other substances to Masovia. Four other people were arrested with him. In August Another suspect was caught by the policewho had enough substances found in his backpack to produce 250 portions of the drug. Now the police have announced the arrest of three more people who were supposed to be part of the Żuromin gang.

Arrest of fentanyl traffickers and the supplier of “Ghost”

As stated in the statement by Asst. Marcin Sawicki from the Masovian police, on October 22, officers detained three more people in connection with the case. These are two men, aged 32 and 39, and a 34-year-old woman.

“They are suspected of placing opioids and other drugs on the market by mail order in order to obtain financial gain. According to the investigators' findings so far, one of the detained people was the so-called supplier of fentanyl patches and other opioid drugs to the main suspect in this case. regarding the 'Ghost' from Żuromin” – said Asp. Sawicki.

All three were charged with drug trafficking, specifically “acting together and in concert in order to obtain a financial benefit, contrary to the provisions of the Act, without the required permit to run a pharmacy or a pharmacy point, selling medicinal products by mail order in the form of opioid drugs to persons who have not yet been identified and thus “providing these persons by mail order and without a doctor's prescription an unspecified amount of specific drugs, making it a permanent source of income.”

The suspects face up to 10 years in prison. Investigators took protective measures against them in the form of police supervision and a ban on leaving the country.

The arrests were made in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. The officers searched several locations in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship – including a warehouse. They seized several hundred packages of opioids, including: morphine transdermal patch systems, Oxycontin, Klonozepan, Xanax, Bunondol, Estazolam, Lorafen and others, as well as a laptop, mobile phones, notes proving committing crimes and PLN 30,000 in cash.

The packages contained a total of approximately 12,000 opioid tablets.

“At the next stages of the investigation, drug distribution channels taking place outside the legal network will be checked, as well as the flows of funds financing this practice and people associated with it. The case, together with the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrów Wielkopolski, is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Radom,” said Asp. . Marcin Sawicki.
