PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński, when asked about the reason for the increase in spending in the Prime Minister's Chancellery on targeted subsidies in the election year – 2023 – said that it was probably because “it was accepted that these elections could end with us (PiS – ed.) losing power and that we still need to support various institutions”. Prime Minister Donald Tusk informed on Friday that last year the Chancellery of the Prime Minister granted targeted subsidies worth a total of PLN 370 million.
On Friday, the heads of the Prime Minister's Chancellery Ministry of Interior and AdministrationMS and MF: Tomasz Siemoniak, Adam Bodnar and Andrzej Domański signed an inter-ministerial agreement regarding the coordination of the activities of the services subordinate to them. It is to concern the securing and recovery of State Treasury property issued illegally, to the detriment of the public interest.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk assessed at a press conference that under the PiS government a “closed system” was created, i.e. a mechanism for using public funds, offices and employees in the election campaign for the benefit of the ruling party. He said that National Revenue Administration (KAS) estimated the expenditure from public funds that raises doubts and requires investigation at PLN 100 billion.

Kaczyński: this is an expression of the pathology of the current “pathetic government”
On Saturday, the PiS president commented on this conference Jaroslaw Kaczynski. He assessed that it was an “expression of the pathology” of the current “pathology”. He said that the agreement signed between the above-mentioned ministries raises doubts regarding its legal basis and the fact that it is concluded between “the supervised (MSW) and the supervisor (MS)”.
– This is not the most important issue in this matter, although it is also worth raising. The most important issue is that this government still wants to use false propaganda. This is how these 100 billion zlotys were constructed, which in the common understanding are to be simply “stolen” by Law and Justiceand, in a slightly more subtle way, illegally issued, Kaczyński said.
Kaczyński: It was accepted that these elections could end with us losing power
TVN24 reporter Bartłomiej Ślak asked the PiS chairman about the increase in spending in the Prime Minister's office on earmarked subsidies during the election year. The head of government informed on Friday that last year the Prime Minister's Office granted various foundations, associations, clubs and religious unions “in the overwhelming majority directly related to the ruling party and its support base”. 524 targeted subsidies with a total value of PLN 370 million. He added that most of these grants were provided without an open tenderHe also noted that spending on subsidies financed from the general reserve of the state budget, at the disposal of the prime minister, increased twelvefold from 2020 to the election year of 2023, to PLN 265 million.
– Perhaps, for example, because it was acknowledged – after all, I led the party, so I know that it was acknowledged – that these elections could end with us losing power and that we still need to support various institutions and that there is nothing illegal about it and nothing contrary to the public interest – said Kaczyński.
He added that “it has nothing to do with the election campaign.”
– Do you think that if you support a Catholic association somewhere, that it will have any electoral effects? You are deeply mistaken – he said.
