“We regret to inform you that on September 12, Emilia Kuskowska, née Kołakowska, passed away,” the club said in a statement on Saturday, September 14. The cause of the 21-year-old's death was not disclosed.
A young Polish boxer has died.
Emilia Kołakowska started training boxing thanks to her father. Her adventure began in 2017. He took her to training at Victoria Ostrołęka. She immediately found her place in the training room and in the ring.
From the beginning, she showed great promise as a boxer. A year later, she had her first fights in competitions. Shortly after, she achieved her first success, winning the bronze medal of the Polish Cadet Cup in the 60-kilogram category. She also had international fights under her belt, including at the festival in Raszyn.
Kołakowska was said to be a great talent, even on par with Julia Szeremeta.
The club from Ostrołęka said goodbye to Kołakowska with a moving post. Below is its text.
“Emilka came to training at the urging of her father Janusz Kołakowski. She had a lot of energy and it had to be used in the right direction. Hard work during training allowed her to make steady progress and present herself better and better in the ring. The bronze medal she won in the Polish Cadet Cup in Grudziądz is proof of that. I will remember her as a smiling, nice and energetic girl. She was gifted with great talent, a strong punch and determination. For us it was a very big blow, from which it will be hard to recover. We express our condolences to the closest ones and the whole family,” we read in the club's post on social media.
The funeral of the 21-year-old boxer took place on Monday, September 16.
