“On Christmas Eve, Russia carried out a massive missile attack on Ukrainian cities. At that time, in a Christmas interview, Prime Minister Orban called Putin an honest partner of the Hungarians,” wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the X platform. He also mentioned Marcin Romanowski, who escaped from Poland and received political asylum in Hungary.

“Bolgot Karácsonyt” means “Merry Christmas” in Hungarian.

Tusk referred to in his entry Russia's massive attack on Ukraine, which took place on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The target of Russian forces was Ukrainian energy facilities. Russia used over a hundred drones and several dozen rockets to attack.

The head of government also reminded about interview of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, given on Tuesday to the pro-government daily “Mayar Nemzet”. “Our friend is Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, our honest partner is Russian President Vladimir Putin, and our good friend is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” Orban said.

Marcin Romanowski mentioned by Tusk, PiS MP and former deputy minister of justice, is suspected of, among other things, rigging competitions for multi-million grants from the Justice Fund, which he supervised when he was deputy minister of justice. A European Arrest Warrant (EAW) was issued against Romanowski. The politician was previously charged with 11 charges, and now seven more are to be charged.

Romanowski he escaped from Poland to Hungary. The Hungarian government granted him political asylum.
